Small waves for the start of the East Coast leg of the BASE Boys Surf Tour.
10th Feb 2009

Rain and small waves greeted the BASE Boys tour today at Pt. Leo on the Mornington Peninsula.
Held at ‘Crunchies Point’ in Pt. Leo due to large and messy conditions at Gunnamatta, the boys were still keen to get amongst the waves despite the small conditions.
With BASE loading the tour van up with a range of demo boards from Simon Anderson, Darren Handley and Murray Burton, the boys had a great selection of boards to test out and improve their surfing on.
The boys donned the ‘Play It Safe By The Water’ rashies and took the boards out in the line up to get some helpful tips from tour leaders and professional surfers Adam Robertson (Portland) and Jack Perry (Jan Juc).
The tour will now move to the NSW-VIC boarder to Mallacoota and the famous wave of Bastion Point.
BASE Boys Surf Tour is a skill development program aimed at boys who have passed through the “learn to surf stage” and has the ability to ride and unbroken wave.
Experienced WQS (World Qualifying Series) surfers Adam Robertson and Jack Perry will be joining the tour to hand on valuable knowledge the boys. Being able to surf with 2 of Victorias most successful surfers is a priceless opportunity and is not to be missed.
Target programs will be conducted both within and after school hours, and will be offered to schools and board riding clubs from the Surfing Victoria networks.
The sessions are free to all boys and will include a talk on surf safety, how to perform a beach rescue and a free surfing session with Adam and Jack.
The program is a joint partnership between BASE, Surfing Victoria, Life Saving Victoria and supported by the surfing industry.
