Kyuss King Blasts Off
26th Oct 2008

Byron Bays Kyuss King has won the under-eight final of the third annual Barton Lynch Blast Off junior surf comp at Sydneys northern beaches which attracted surfers from around Australia. Competition on the first two days was held at Whale Beach in windy 2 to 3ft conditions, with Kyuss winning his way into a six-man final held the following day in 3 to 4ft surf at South Avalon. He scored some solid rides in the final with high-speed grab rail cutbacks and linking turns, milking each wave to the beach for maximum points. Dad Justin said his son was frothing over the win and was stoked to have scored a new board as one of the prizes. Kyuss himself said the Barton Lynch comp was epic because he got to hang out with the other competitors, skated, went free surfing and played games between heats. You get to make heaps of friends and it was such a fun vibe, said the young prodigy.
