Glassing

Base uses a French glass fabric called Hexcel that has been around for over 50 years. The quality is second to none in clarity and tensile strength and is a major contributor to the reputation of our glassing technique. The sanded finish is synonymous with Base surfboards and at this point, no other manufacturers have come consistently close to us with this type of finish. The beauty of this finish is that it feels like real fibreglass and it exposes poor sanding so even a layman can see bad workmanship if it is there. The sanded finish requires extra neat laminating to the point where the filler coat almost becomes the finish coat.
