Darren Handley of DHD surfboards was pleased to see his boards doing well in the recent Portugal WQS events. Team rider Sally Fitzgibbons taking out first place in the WQS 6 star Estoril Billabong Girls Pro. Also in the men's WQS 6 star Estoril Quiksilver Pro, DHD boards were ridden to the podium by Alejo Muniz finishing in 1st place and Japanese team rider Masatoshi Ohno finishing second.

The Snapper Pro 1st round got off to a clean start at D-Bah today. The BASE teamriders got off to a great start for the 2009 WCT Tour. Mick Fanning, Julian Wilson, Bottle, Jeremy Flores, Kieren Perrow and Adriano De Souza all winning their heats with some great surfing. Bobby Martinez tied for first, coming second on a countback. Kelly Slater also won his heat, opting to ride his 5'4 creation.

A great day at Snapper Rocks for DHD teamrider Corey Ziems. With some impressive surfing in a close scoring final Corey Ziems took out the Snapper Pro Trials. Looks like I jinxed Mick, should have kept quiet so now the race is on with Kelly and Taj still well within reach of snatching the title from Mick who I think was the most dedicated surfer on tour this year. Stephie too isnt as it seems going to just waltz over the line with Sylvania nipping voraciously at her heels. Mick has had good results previously in both Brazil and Hawaii but I know he would like to put it out of doubt by the time the Brazil leg is wrapped up.

The drums are beating down under again with the title returning to Oz. It took a very dedicated surfer in Mick Fanning to finally arrest it from American clutches which demonstrates that gone are the days when a title could be won on a wing and a prayer.
