Luke Munro Makes The Cut
After two serious gruelling years on the WQS Luke has squeaked into the WCT 2007 by the narrowest of margins.
Certainly his first half of the year was the point winner, with a final in Scotland, and some semis in Europe, and even leading the tour at one point after his first taste of victory in perfect reef waves in the Maldives.
Luke looked dead certain to qualify but a series of poor results made his bid look a little shakey. He had the opportunity to add some points at the O’Neill 4 star at Santa Cruz in October, but just missed out on the final. With a little help from another desperate Ozzie (who I will not name) which meant that he had to make ground up on the last and hardest legs of the tour, Brazil and Hawaii. First round knock outs in both these events put him on the ropes in fact he made all his gains in the first 7 events and then the drought set in until the end of the year.
Known for his cool unflappable contest strategy which at times backfired on him particularly in 4 man heats where he just could not get his quota to demonstrate his skill, however with the man on man format I am sure that we will see him slay a few big names on the tour next year.
Congratulations mate!
