Muzza's Trippin' - "THE  CUTTLEFISH"

The Purpose of The Cuttlefish

he purpose of this crazy creation is two fold. Firstly I wanted to test a profile that was thick and narrower up front and a tail that is thin and wide. Secondly I wanted to build the deepest hull possible in this thick nose area to see how something this extreme would react especially when standing over it in full trim mode.

Muzza's Ramblings

The Cuttlefish’s father was the Trippun Fish with an even more extreme concave in the tail area. I have pulled all the thickness forward in an attempt to have a profile that is front heavy but with a very deep double concave dug into it . The other end in the tail area the profile is foiled off to very thin and this is balanced out with the tail area made very wide and in the Bat Tail shape.

This profile is the total opposite to the Stinger fish which is also an extreme experiment to see which profile imbalance works the best. I think that the dish wide tail and its thinness will give it plenty of thrust and bight. The fact that it’s parent is the deep veed Trippun Fish means that even though the tail is wide it is broken into two halves with that very deep vee which certainly encourages it on rail. The deep vee also opens up the use of the butterfly fins which although are very broad do not over track the board because of the leverage of that deep vee. The deep vee and the broad fins encourage the rail to rail pump action so this board should be able to be pumped up to high speeds. The hull is the deepest I have designed so far which is something I have to push the envelope with coz the more subtle versions I have been riding the last few years thus far have not got any negatives so I figure when doing the design to the extreme they will no doubt surface .

Already I have found they paddle in a lot earlier and go friken fast when you stand over them. The quad fins hold the tail rail into the wall when you’re on the nose so you can spend some time up there if you are so inclined.

Prediction

I reckon I could spend my whole vacation on the nose of this thing and add to that I reckon I could paddle into hollow pits with my chin hanging over the nose and still get to the bottom with dry hair
