Model: Standard Hip |
The
Standard Hip is Murray Bourton's high performance
short board. The plan shape incorporates
a single to double concave and a unique
design feature called the "Hip".
The Hip is located towards the mid to lower section
of the board. The purpose of the "Hip"
is to allow water to flow freely from the rails
to increase acceleration. This plan shape distortion
is loose and fast, the Standard Hip is a must in
all advanced surfers quivers. |

Model: Pseudo Fish |
Old faithful. The Pseudo Fish is one of Murray’s most
successful shapes. Designed for every body shape & versatile enough to be used in all conditions, the Pseudo Fish is the ultimate all-rounder. A little wider through the centre, with a vee into a semi-bonzer carved into the bottom, allows this board to excel in both powerful & gutless waves alike. |

Model: HPR |
The “High-Performance Retro” gives you the buoyancy and paddle power you need without sacrificing performance. A unique combination of a wider nose template, lower nose rocker and a double-flyer swallow gives you a short board that’s loose and maneuverable, but still allows you to easily paddle into waves. Perfect for the big fella or someone wanting to come down in board length. |

Model: Big Boy |
The
Big Boy is a scaled up version of the "Standard
Hip" models for the bigger guys who usually
end up with boats. Scaling is an art and
one that Murray Bourton has successfully achieved
in many facets of "bigger guy's designs".
The concept here is to expand every feature evenly
so there is no distortion in any particular area
of the surfboard. |

Model: Big Bat |
The Big Bat is another one of Murray’s 4-fin applications; this one in particular is aimed at those that need both a paddler and a performer. The actual board shape is modelled off the great success of the HPR. The combination of the diamond bat tail and the “clustered” quad setup has resulted in a breakthrough in both speed and looseness. |

Model: Indo Gun |
The
Indo Gun is a result of 30 years of experience
in surfing in Indonesia. Unlike the rawness
of Hawaii, Indo waves are generally groomed and
walled, and as a result Murray Bourton has refined
this board so it bites and drives down the line.
The swallow tail boards come with reverse vees,
while the rounded pins have single concaves. They
are held together by light and strong diagonal glass,
these designs will hold off the bottom and
fly down the line. |

Model: The Standard/Channel Quad |
With the success of the quad hybrids of last year, Murray has introduced the new ‘07 line of high-performance quad designs. Easier to turn than a thruster, more drive than a twin fin. The standard quads are the ultimate blend for small wave fun and
perfect wave performance. |

Model: Quad Tow |
| If you are not aware of what has been happening in tow world then it may come as a surprise that the quads are dominatingin the line up in Hawaii and northern California. By all reports the quads are heaps faster due to the fact that quads have more fin on the rail and tow boards spend more time on their rails because they are so narrow and are always in drive mode. |

Model: Brooko Round Tail Quad |
AT LAST... a quad that does what a pro surfer wants. It has been a long time coming, for me as a designer at least! Perhaps naively I thought the round tail would be too loose as a quad and would lack reach and drive but in fact I was underestimating what guys at this level can do with a design like this. I have been building thrusters for guys at this level forever but I was mindful not to upset their status quo i.e. experimenting with far left designs can fuck with the sub conscious reflexes already finely tuned to the three fin attack.

Model: Inspired by Troy Brooks |
Since Luke Munro has been influenced by
Troy Brook's boards of late, the designs
have evolved to become very similar. This design
is a stretch of Luke Munro's except for a little
later flip in the nose . The rail thickness
is a bee’s dick thinner but the bottom shape
is identical. All the decks on the Inspiration
Series boards are slightly veed which runs
into a box shoulder rather than a rolled
deck, this enables you to have a small
box rail but not too much more foam under the palm.
This board would suit those from 70 to 75kgs who
want plenty of freedom on the face and speed
under the front foot.

Model: HPL |
Basically these designs have hips and deeper concaves, they are squash tails with small boxy rails and slightly veed decks. The boxy rail allows the thickness in the centre to be kept to a minimum so if they seem thin numerically they are certainly not in the rail.
I have drawn the line at 6'6 coz I reckon the concept gets lost any longer than that.
Customs in this model are welcome as I have only covered the common dimension for a common customer weight. |
